“Rebel Futurism was developed through an exploration of materials, shapes and forms.”
The Rebel Futurism collection was developed through an exploration of materials, shapes and forms pushing the status quo of contemporary design for furniture.
“Neither form nor function proceeds one another.”
The motive behind the collection was to design pieces that are equally as functional as they are sculptural, where neither form nor function proceeded one another.
The designer was mainly interested in observing the relationship between the materials and forms by the use of new manufacturing techniques such as metal spinning and GFRC (glass fibre reinforced concrete) casting.
“The light only emits from the outer ring of the pendant.”
Rebel futurism pendant is a counterweighted spun aluminum light finished with polished brass fixtures. The light only emits from the outer ring of the pendant which creates a mysterious outlook on the hollow void interior.
Rebel futurism side table is made from spun aluminum top and base, polished brass legs and cast concrete surfaces.
“My primary objective is to create an Australian furniture and lighting brand that can compete in the international market.”
